Here is an explanation of the bills you may receive:

Gateway Surgery Center’s Bill

You may receive a bill from us for what is known as the facility fee. This fee is for staff, supplies, and equipment we provide for your safe and successful experience here at Gateway Surgery Center. If you have any questions about this information, please contact us at 314-735-0200 option 2. Delayed payments may result in your account being sent to collections.

Physician’s Bill

Your surgery will be performed by your physician. Since the physician is not an employee of the center, he/she may bill you separately. The physician’s bill will be sent from the physician’s office. Please address all questions to their office.

Anesthesia’s Bill

The anesthesia you receive during your surgery will be provided by the Anesthesiologist and/or a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. The anesthesia staff will give you either sedation or general anesthesia and monitor you throughout your surgery. You may receive a separate bill for these services. Please address all questions regarding these services to 314-370-6856.

Insurance

Gateway Surgery Center may not be a participating provider with all insurance plans. To confirm network participation and understand your coverage, we strongly recommend that you contact your insurance provider directly and inquire about your out-of-network benefits for ambulatory surgical services.

If Gateway Surgery Center is not in-network with your insurance plan, you will be financially responsible for any associated out-of-network charges. While our team will make every effort to verify your insurance information and notify you prior to your scheduled procedure, it remains the patient’s responsibility to confirm coverage and understand their financial obligations. It’s our policy to collect the patient’s estimated portion on the date of service.

No. The amount provided is an estimate based on your individual insurance benefits. Final charges may vary depending on how your insurance processes the claim.

Once your procedure has been completed and your insurance provider has reviewed the claim, you may either receive a bill for any remaining balance or, if applicable, a refund check for any overpayment.
